Nuremberg Trials Courtroom Exhibit

Opened May 1, 2008

 nuremberg1

From November 1945 through October 1946, the international community stood as one united force to condemn the horrible atrocities that took place during the Holocaust, and to bring its participants to justice for their crimes against humanity.

In what became known as the Nuremberg Trials, judges from the United States, Great Britain, France and the Soviet Union held 22 Nazi criminals accountable for their actions during World War II. These trials formed the backbone of what would become modern international law.

Today, the Nuremberg Palace of Justice courtroom where the International Military Tribunals took place still exists, however it is closed to the public.

The Virginia Holocaust Museum has created the only existing replica of this historic courtroom . This permanent exhibit will feature original trial footage as well as photos and memorabilia from the trials. Officially dedicated on May 1, 2008, the new exhibit provides visitors the opportunity to view the courtroom as it was during the trials.
