First They Came...Speaking Out Against Genocide

As part of Genocide Prevention Month, the Virginia Holocaust Museum is proud to bring together activists, scholars, witnesses, and survivors of modern genocide to discuss what all of us can do to stop these atrocities. Designed as a mini-conference, the Museum hopes to provide opportunities for everyone to participate in the discussion.

Dr. Lee Ann De Reus (2009 Carl Wilkens Fellow with Genocide Intervention Network), Niemat Ahmadi (Darfuri Liaison Officer with the Save Darfur Coalition), and Awer Bul (Sudanese Lost Boy and founder of the Awer Bul Art Workshop)

As part of this event, the Museum is hosting the Congo/Women Portraits of War: The Democratic Republic of Congo Traveling Exhibit, a powerful collection of photographs highlighting the struggles of women who are facing increased gender-based violence.  You can also follow our updates and let us know you’re attending on our Facebook Event page.
