Visiting The Museum
Due to the graphic nature of the Museum, it is recommended that all children be at least 9 years old. Guests should wear appropriate attire to crawl through an exhibit, however there are alternate, handicapped accessible routes available. Individuals and Small Groups: The Museum provides walk-in visitors with a choice of two types of self-guided tours- an audio tour, or a guidebook tour. The audio tour features Jay Ipson, Holocaust Survivor and Executive Director of the Museum, in a 70-minute, pre-recorded tour guiding guests through the exhibits. The guidebook includes a map of the Museum and literature about each room. A 14-minute documentary precedes both tours. Large Groups: For groups larger than 10, the Museum provides docents to guide them through the exhibits. The Museum can accommodate up to 120 guests at one time. To schedule a tour of the Museum please fill out a Group Tour Reservation Form at least two weeks prior to the desired date. The Museum requests that large groups divide into smaller groups of 25 or fewer before arriving to the Museum. Bus parking is available in the Museum’s secondary parking lot. Click here to download a map of both parking lots. Docent-guided tours last approximately two hours and fifteen minutes. Upon arrival, groups view a 30-minute, introductory film- The Ispon Saga. The film describes Holocaust events and introduces the Ipson family narrative. Following the presentation, docents provide guided tours through the exhibits. There is space onsite for groups to eat, however the Museum must be notified in advance of a group’s intent to use the space. Groups are responsible for bringing their own meals, as there is no food for purchase at the Museum. |
